Louisville is reportedly very high on Harrell, but they would have to find a way to open up another scholarship in order to sign him.

Kentucky, Florida, NC State and Alabama are also on Harrell’s list. He has not yet scheduled a visit to Kentucky.

Troy Williams Increases List to Six

Although just a few weeks ago he was on the cusp of making a decision between North Carolina and Kentucky, Troy Williams has now expanded his list of schools back to six.

The 2013 forward is now considering Louisville, Florida, South Carolina and Georgetown—in addition to Kentucky and North Carolina.

Williams has no new timetable for when he’ll make his final college decision. When it comes to his preference among these schools, he told Adam Zagoria that as of right now, “they’re all still equal.”

However, the 6’6″ wing from Hampton, VA may not be finished growing his list just yet.

“We’re looking at other options,” said his uncle and famed AAU coach, Boo Williams. “We just want to make sure we get it right.”

Amile Jefferson Chooses Duke

Power forward Amile Jefferson announced today that he will be attending Duke next year as a member of the 2012 class.

Jefferson chose Duke over Kentucky, NC State, Villanova and Ohio State.

This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise for Kentucky fans. Duke and NC State were considered to be the odds-on favorites and Kentucky was always viewed as a bit of a longshot.

With Jefferson now off the board, Kentucky’s attention would now turn to fellow forward Montrezl Harrell, who has not yet been granted his release from Virginia Tech.

Julius Mays Commits to Kentucky

Kentucky added their sixth new addition to the roster today in the form of Wright State transfer Julius Mays.

Mays averaged 14.1 points per game for Wright State last year after originally transferring from North Carolina State. He took an official visit to Purdue this weekend, but pulled the trigger on Kentucky shortly thereafter.

He is on schedule to graduate, so he will be eligible to play immediately at Kentucky next season. He has one year of athletic eligibility remaining.

He explained that one of the major reasons he selected Kentucky was their master’s program in sports leadership.

Mays shot over 42 percent from beyond the arc last season and will give the Wildcats an immediate boost in both scoring and experience.

2013 Forward Tony Trocha Could Reclassify to 2012

Tony Trocha, one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2013 class may now be on Kentucky’s radar for 2012.

The 6’10″ native Colombian has already taken his SATs in hopes of enrolling in college early as a member of the class of 2012.

Trocha, who boasts a 7’5″ wingspan, has a unique combination of size and athleticism that would make him a hot commodity in a waning 2012 class.

Trocha is currently ranked as the No. 59 player in the class of 2013 by Rivals, but would have likely seen a huge rise in the rankings with a bit more exposure and experience on the AAU circuit this summer.

Kentucky, LSU, Texas A&M, UCLA, Oregon, Ohio State and Providence are currently on his short list.

Montrezl Harrell Officially Asks for Release

Montrezl Harrell has been rumored as a Kentucky target for a few weeks now, but with today’s announcement that he has officially asked for a release from his letter of intent at Virginia Tech, expect this speculation to finally explode.

Harrell, a 6’7″ power forward from Tarboro, VA, originally committed to Virginia Tech a year ago, but finally decided to part ways with the Hokies when they unexpectedly fired head basketball coach Seth Greenberg a few weeks ago.

Kentucky will be one of the major players for Harrell’s services, along with NC State, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Providence.

He is not an extremely skilled player as of yet, but he makes up it for with an outstanding combination of size, athleticism and hustle. He is considered a four-star prospect by Rivals.
